Georgia Commitment Scholarships Milestone

Thanks to the incredible generosity of UGA donors, 500 endowed, need-based scholarships have now been created through the Georgia Commitment Scholarship Program. This achievement is a testament to the desire of so many individuals, families, and organizations to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
In the three years since the Georgia Commitment Scholarship Program was announced, donors have pledged more than $77 million to UGA for need-based aid. This number includes gifts from several donors who, inspired by the program, committed more than the maximum $500,000 match, creating 32 additional endowed scholarships and valuable programming for scholarship recipients.
By supporting UGA undergraduates with the greatest financial need, Georgia Commitment Scholarships are helping to remove barriers and open doors to education—the top priority of the Commit to Georgia capital campaign. These scholarships also enrich our campus community by supporting students from all parts of the state, including many who are the first in their family to attend college.
The University of Georgia remains grateful to the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation for its $30 million gift that catalyzed this important program and to the more than 320 donors who have given to the program to date. I deeply appreciate their commitment to our students and to UGA.
