Scott Jackson is the GRA Eminent Scholar for Plant Functional Genomics and director of the Center for Applied Genetic Technologies. His lab works at the intersection of modern genetics and agriculture, applying advanced technology to improve crop varieties to strengthen agriculture in Georgia and across the world. Jackson’s research team includes many undergraduate and graduate students who are training to become the next generation of plant scientists.

“The continued and overwhelming generosity of UGA’s donors allows my lab to enhance the livelihoods of farmers in Georgia and around the world. Our work has improved the sustainability and profitability of crops like peanuts and soybeans. In Africa, we are working with small-holder growers to improve the crops that sustain them.”
