With the fall semester concluding, I am reminded of the exceptional achievements we have already secured this academic year. Please join me in celebrating some of our recent accomplishments below:
- UGA enrollment has reached an all-time high of 43,888 students, including a record-setting 83% of undergraduates from the state of Georgia.
- UGA was ranked a Top-20 public university for the tenth consecutive year by S. News & World Report.
- UGA hired Carolyn Clevenger as the founding dean of the School of Nursing. Clevenger is a nationally recognized academic leader in advanced practice nursing, geriatrics and gerontology.
- The School of Medicine celebrated its topping-out ceremony, signaling the completion of the structural phase of construction on the medical education and research building.
- UGA was a recipient of the APLU’s Innovation and Economic Prosperity Award for its longstanding efforts to elevate communities throughout the state.
- We began a new scholarship fundraising initiative to support the University’s goal to bring top students to UGA and make it possible for more students to access our world-class learning environment.
- UGA launched the Comprehensive Learner Record, an innovative digital credential that will combine students’ courses and activities, highlighting their validated achievements and competencies.
- UGA’s football team won its 16th SEC title and earned a berth in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
I am thankful for the dedicated efforts of our faculty, staff, and students this semester, and for the continued generosity of our loyal alumni and friends. I wish everyone in the Bulldog Nation a refreshing holiday season as we look ahead to yet another year of excellence at the University of Georgia.
