The Holmes-Hunter Lecture Series was established in 1985 in conjunction with the University of Georgia’s Bicentennial to honor Dr. Hamilton Holmes, Sr. and Charlayne Hunter-Gault, the first black students to enroll at UGA. The lecture is given by a distinguished scholar or public figure and focuses on race relations, aspects of higher education with implications for race relations or black history.

Presidential Honors Week Luncheon

Honors Week is an annual UGA tradition dating back to the 1930s, when then-Chancellor S.V. Sanford dedicated a day to recognize outstanding students. In 2011, the event was expanded to include events recognizing faculty, staff, and alumni. The Presidential Honors Week Luncheon celebrates the achievements of Presidential Award of Excellence recipients, First Honor Graduates, major scholarship recipients, and other exemplary undergraduate students.

The annual CURO Symposium highlights excellence in undergraduate research at the University of Georgia by offering an opportunity for students to communicate their own research to our broader community. All undergraduates pursuing faculty-mentored research—regardless of discipline, year, experience, Honors/non-Honors status, or whether they have been enrolled in CURO coursework—may apply to present their research at the symposium.

Signature Lecture Series

Many of the lectures are supported by endowments, while others honor notable figures and milestones in the University’s history. All Signature Lectures are free and open to the public.
