As this fall semester comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to celebrate some of the recent achievements of the extraordinary faculty, staff, and students at the University of Georgia. The following are just a few of our many accomplishments as a university community:

  • Foundation Fellow Mariah Cady was named a Rhodes Scholar, marking the fourth time that UGA students have earned this prestigious award in back-to-back years.
  • UGA was ranked a Top-20 public university for the eighth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report.
  • UGA’s new, state-of-the-art Poultry Science Building opened, solidifying our position as a global leader in poultry science research, education, and extension.
  • UGA was ranked No. 1 in the nation for bringing research-based products to market, with more than 1,100 products based on UGA research introduced to date.
  • Two UGA programs received national recognition from the University Economic Development Association for their positive economic impact on communities.
  • UGA hosted the inaugural Johnny Isakson Symposium on Political Civility to honor and perpetuate the late U.S. Senator and UGA alumnus’s legacy of statesmanship.
  • UGA’s soccer team won the SEC Championship for the first time in program history and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.
  • UGA’s football team achieved the longest winning streak in SEC history, with 29 consecutive wins, and earned a berth in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

I am grateful for the commitment and dedication of the UGA community and the continued support from our alumni and friends, which made these achievements possible. I wish everyone in the Bulldog Nation a restful and rejuvenating holiday season as we prepare for yet another remarkable year at the University of Georgia.
