As we turn the page on a successful fall semester, I encourage everyone to pause and celebrate the truly remarkable achievements that we accomplished together this fall. What follows is only a sample of the excellence that defines our UGA community:
- UGA ranked among the Top 20 public universities in the nation for the ninth consecutive year in U.S. News & World Report.
- The School of Medicine received approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents to grant a Doctor of Medicine degree and submitted its application for accreditation to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
- Three new Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholars joined UGA, while the overall number of endowed faculty positions at UGA surpassed 375.
- Four-year and six-year degree completion rates reached record highs of 76% and 89%, respectively, and enrollment rose to a record 43,146 students.
- Donors endowed the 1,000th need-based scholarship at UGA, ensuring that more students from low-income backgrounds will have access to a UGA education for generations to come.
- UGA dedicated the newly renovated Holmes-Hunter Academic Building, honoring our institution’s history while increasing the functionality of this facility for the future.
- The Rural Engagement Workshop for Academic Faculty earned national acclaim, receiving the University Economic Development Association’s Award of Excellence.
- UGA once again ranked No. 1 in the nation for bringing research-based products to market, producing a record 66 new products this past year.
Thank you to our faculty, staff, and students for your effort and dedication this semester and to our loyal alumni and friends whose support continues to propel us to new heights. I wish everyone in the Bulldog Nation a joyful holiday season as we look forward to another exciting year at the University of Georgia.
