This fall, the University of Georgia opened three new turfgrass facilities on the Athens, Griffin, and Tifton campuses to advance research and instruction in an area of vital importance to Georgia’s economy.
Funded by $11.5 million in state support, the facilities house state-of-the-art laboratories, greenhouses, classrooms, and offices. More than two dozen UGA scientists will benefit from the cutting-edge spaces as they conduct research, support industry professionals, and train the future leaders of this field.
Turfgrass is one of Georgia’s largest agricultural commodities, providing 87,000 full- and part-time jobs throughout the state. The new facilities will support the $8 billion industry, representing another strong partnership between the University of Georgia and its home state.
