It is Honors Week at the University of Georgia, a time set aside each spring to celebrate excellence among our faculty, staff, students, and alumni. I am once again reminded of the tremendous dedication of the UGA community to the mission of our institution—to improve lives and strengthen communities through teaching, research, and service.

Our faculty are facilitating learning at the highest levels, creating student-centered classrooms and laboratories, using today’s most innovative teaching methods, and taking the extra step to mentor and guide their students. Our public service and outreach professionals are helping to build Georgia’s economy and leveraging the University’s vast intellectual resources against pressing issues in our society, from climate risks to cyber threats. Our researchers are expanding the boundaries of knowledge and making life-saving discoveries. Our students are excelling in the classroom and making a positive impact on the world around them. And our alumni are leading their organizations and communities while helping to ensure that UGA continues its ascent as one of the best universities in the nation.

As we gather to recognize these and many more accomplishments, we are inspired anew. It is a privilege for me to serve alongside such extraordinary individuals, and I am grateful for all they are doing on behalf of the University, our state, our nation, and our world.
