This year marks the 20th anniversary of the University of Georgia’s College of Public Health. During the past two decades, the College has become a national leader in the areas of aging, disaster preparedness, evidence-based practice, global infectious disease, and workplace health thanks to the groundbreaking research and outreach efforts of its faculty, staff, and students.

Public health faculty also have been very successful in partnering on interdisciplinary research, illustrating the far-reaching impact of the College and the vital role it plays in helping UGA fulfill its land-grant mission. Additionally, the College of Public Health now has more than 4,000 alumni who are working in medicine, health education, emergency management, public health policy, environmental science, and social work. Two-thirds of these alumni have stayed in Georgia to help improve our state’s health outcomes, while others are applying their knowledge and passion for public health across 19 countries and all 50 states.

As we look ahead, the College is uniquely positioned to leverage its momentum to help UGA usher in an era of even greater impact. I want to thank all of the UGA faculty, staff, and students who have worked tirelessly to advance the College of Public Health for the last 20 years, and I am confident that the College will continue to be a crucial resource in the effort to improve the lives of citizens throughout Georgia and beyond.
