The University of Georgia has provided students with a world-class business education for more than 100 years. Last week, we celebrated the new home of the Terry College of Business and the facilities that will support teaching, research, and service that produces business leaders and strengthens our economy for the next 100 years.
Completion of M. Douglas Ivester Hall and Sanford and Barbara Orkin Hall not only extends the Terry College’s state-of-the-art offerings, it also marks the finish of a remarkable transformation of the UGA campus. All together, the Business Learning Community comprises six buildings, five stories, and nearly 300,000 square feet in which the Terry College’s 9,000 inhabitants—including faculty, staff, and students—work and learn. It also includes unique outdoor spaces, such as Coca-Cola Plaza, that build upon UGA’s tradition of timeless, iconic landscapes.
This $140 million project was funded by a 50-50 match of state and private support. We remain grateful to the Building Terry Campaign Cabinet, the National Campaign Committee, and all of the generous donors who made this achievement possible. We also deeply appreciate our dedicated leaders in the state government for their strong support of this historic project.
I look forward to the many ways the Business Learning Community will increase the University of Georgia’s positive impact on economic development in our state and nation in the years to come.
