The University of Georgia has once again been recognized as a national leader in higher education. In U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 ranking of the best public universities, UGA ranked No. 15, marking the fifth consecutive year that we have placed in the Top 20.
Among the criteria for the ranking are student retention, degree completion, selectivity, faculty resources, and support from alumni. With a record-setting capital campaign and initiatives to reduce class sizes, help students apply their learning outside of the classroom, and many others, our performance on these measures remains strong. Another metric—peer assessment by Presidents, Provosts, and Deans of Admissions from other institutions—continues to climb as UGA’s reputation for excellence expands.
The consistency of our national ranking is a testament to the commitment of our talented faculty, staff, and students; to the generosity and support of our loyal alumni and friends; and to the effectiveness of our vision and strategy to reach new heights of academic excellence. I am excited to see how much more we can accomplish together in the coming years as we continue to set new standards for ourselves and for public higher education across the U.S.
