This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Foundation Fellowship at the University of Georgia. For the past five decades, this esteemed undergraduate scholarship program, housed in the Morehead Honors College, has enriched our campus while providing extraordinary opportunities to our students.
In addition to receiving significant financial support, Foundation Fellows engage in group and individual travel-study and other educational experiences alongside renowned faculty while building lifelong friendships in a close community of peers. Fellows frequently earn prestigious awards such as the Rhodes Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship, and Goldwater Scholarship. Just as importantly, for 50 years, we have watched Foundation Fellows graduate from the University and quickly become leaders in their respective fields and communities.
I have been honored to be associated with the Foundation Fellowship program throughout much of my career, including serving as its director for five years. Over the decades, the program has grown in size and stature as generous UGA alumni and friends have invested their time and resources in its advancement. I am deeply grateful to all of the program’s supporters—from loyal donors and alumni to dedicated faculty and staff—for helping to make the Foundation Fellowship one of the premier scholarships in the United States. I look forward to the continued success of the program and its exceptional students in the years ahead.
