Combining the personal attention of a small liberal arts college with the resources of a top public research university, the University of Georgia’s Honors Program provides students with a world-class undergraduate experience. At UGA, Honors students engage in exciting and challenging learning opportunities that make a significant impact on their lives and give them the tools to make a difference in the lives of others.

Throughout their time at the University, Honors students make meaningful connections with eminent faculty across disciplines through the Honors Faculty Mentor Network—which links students to faculty members who help them explore their academic and professional interests—and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities, through which students conduct groundbreaking research in the sciences, arts, and humanities alongside faculty research mentors. With support from the Honors International Scholars Program, they participate in study, work, and service programs abroad to engage firsthand with global issues. They explore professional aspirations through internships in New York City and Washington, DC. They gain leadership skills by working with civic organizations to improve education, public health, and other aspects of life in Athens and broader communities.

Honors students are consistently recognized for their achievements with national and international awards, such as the Marshall, Truman, and Rhodes. This year, for example, fourth-year Honors student Meredith Paker was awarded the highly competitive Marshall Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in the United Kingdom. The Scholarships Office within the Honors Program works closely with students to identify and apply for awards that will pave the way for the next phase of their academic and professional careers.

The University of Georgia’s Honors students energize every aspect of this institution. These outstanding undergraduates bring a spirit of collegiality and a passion for learning that inspires others to achieve higher levels of academic and personal excellence.
