Last night, in front of thousands of Bulldog fans at SoFi Stadium and millions more across the nation, the University of Georgia earned the title of College Football Playoff National Champion for the second year in a row. I proudly join everyone in the Bulldog Nation in congratulating our student-athletes, Coach Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs coaching staff, and Athletic Director Josh Brooks on this monumental achievement.
UGA’s second consecutive College Football Playoff National Championship win concluded an incredible season that also encompassed an electrifying win in the Peach Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal, a Southeastern Conference title, and a historic 15-0 record. The Bulldog Nation will never forget the unparalleled skill and dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and Athletic Association staff who produced a resounding win over Texas Christian University and the first back-to-back national championships in the College Football Playoff era.
I am grateful to our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends for helping to make the University of Georgia a powerhouse in academics and athletics. From creating a world-class environment for instruction and research, to endowing scholarships and professorships, to cheering our Dawgs to victory both on and off the field, you all play a vital role in UGA’s continued success.
