The demand for a University of Georgia education continues to soar, with the institution receiving nearly 48,000 applications for the Class of 2029. This represents an increase of roughly 5,000 applications from last year’s record and highlights the extraordinary momentum we are experiencing as one of America’s top public research universities.
Drawn to UGA’s world-class learning environment, talented students from every corner of our state and beyond are eager to take advantage of the transformational learning opportunities that are a hallmark of the University of Georgia. Our dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to ensure that students are supported in all that they do, from undergraduate research and active learning in the classroom, to study abroad programs and tailored career advising sessions. As a result of these efforts, the University of Georgia sets the standard among peer institutions for measures of student success: four- and six-year graduation rates both reached record-highs in the past year, and 96 percent of our graduates are either employed full-time or entering graduate school within six months of completing their degree.
These achievements, as well as the growing interest among prospective students, are a result of the University of Georgia’s pursuit of excellence as we advance our teaching, research, and service mission. I look forward to welcoming our newest first-year class to Athens this fall, and I have no doubt their time at UGA will prepare them to excel as the next generation of leaders.
