Students are an integral part of the University of Georgia’s land-grant and sea-grant mission. In addition to contributing to the University’s research and teaching activities, they provide more than 500,000 service hours each year in communities across the state and around the world.
Twenty-six of our outstanding students recently spent their spring break learning more about our state and how UGA serves its citizens by participating in the inaugural Student Tour of Georgia. Organized by the Division of Public Service and Outreach and the Division of Student Affairs, the tour stopped in 13 cities throughout Georgia. Some of the destinations included the Washington County Archway Partnership in Sandersville; UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant on Skidaway Island; and Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville, which is partnering with UGA on a new master’s program focused on film, television, and digital media.
Learning opportunities such as the Student Tour of Georgia are among the many ways UGA prepares students for success after graduation and inspires them to carry on the University’s 234-year tradition of serving the state we call home.
