UGA in California, President Morehead with group

Meeting with students and alumni in California last week, I was inspired by the broad reach of the University of Georgia. Our alumni in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas—approximately 5,000 strong—are outstanding representatives of this institution on the West Coast. They serve as leaders in their communities and industries, and they maintain deep connections to one another and to their alma mater.

Many UGA students are living and working in California this summer. Some are participating in the Grady LA Field Study and Internship Program, which brings students to Los Angeles for eight weeks to work as interns in the entertainment industry. These students will earn academic credit while gaining hands-on experience and establishing valuable connections with industry leaders. Others are interning at the NASA Ames Research Center, following their passions in the aerospace industry.

As I traveled through California, it was evident: the bonds of the Georgia family are stronger than ever. From the East Coast to the West Coast, generations of UGA students and alumni are drawn together by their love for this institution and a shared commitment to helping our University reach new heights of excellence.
