This fall, the University of Georgia welcomed the 6,175 newest members of our student body: the Class of 2028. These talented first-year students were selected from more than 43,000 applicants, a testament to the extraordinary demand for a UGA education. They arrived on campus with an average of 10 Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or dual-enrollment courses; an average high school GPA of 4.13; an average SAT score of 1337; and an average ACT score of 30. The class also includes 208 valedictorians and salutatorians from Georgia high schools.

These newcomers joined a vibrant academic community that continues to receive national and international recognition for excellence. For example, Forbes recently ranked the University of Georgia No. 19 nationally among public universities, up two spots from the previous year. The Princeton Review named UGA one of the nation’s best values in higher education with the ninth best alumni network in America. And over the summer, the Morehead Honors College was named the No. 1 honors program in the country by College Transitions, publishers of the best-selling guide Colleges Worth Your Money.

The entire UGA community—from students, faculty, and staff to alumni, friends, and industry partners—is ready to help the members of the Class of 2028 thrive in their pursuits. I look forward to watching these newest Bulldogs become the next generation of leaders on our campus, in our state, and around the world.
