A Historic Moment for UGA’s College of Engineering

The University of Georgia recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of our College of Engineering and the completion of extensive renovations to the college’s instructional hub, Driftmier Engineering Center, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the modernized mid-century facility.
The addition of a College of Engineering in 2012 was a major milestone for the University of Georgia. Since then, the college has become one of the fastest-growing public colleges of engineering in the nation and the fourth largest college or school at UGA. Now its facilities reflect the innovative education it provides—with bright, welcoming, state-of-the-art learning spaces; collaborative design studios; and new homes for the Engineering Education Transformation Institute and the Professional Development Center. We are grateful to the state leaders, corporate partners, alumni, and other supporters who made the Driftmier Engineering Center renovation possible.
As we train the next generation of engineering researchers and practitioners, we are increasing UGA’s capacity to impact critical areas such as transportation, infrastructure, health care, food security, and more. I look forward to all that our College of Engineering faculty, staff, students, and alumni will accomplish in the years ahead.
