UGA’s Stellar Students

University of Georgia students are among the most talented and ambitious in the world. Whether they are researching new therapeutics to treat Alzheimer’s disease or spending a year abroad to enhance their fluency in Arabic, they set an extraordinary example of academic achievement.
UGA students consistently earn national and international recognition. Last fall, for example, Foundation Fellow Natalie Navarrete was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to further her studies of Russia, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe — making UGA one of only three public universities in the U.S., in addition to the nation’s service academies, to have a Rhodes Scholar this year. Honors student Natalie Moss and Foundation Fellow Lauren Wilkes earned prestigious Marshall Scholarships to study biological anthropology and machine learning, respectively — making UGA the only public institution to have multiple recipients this year, along with private institutions Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also this year, UGA was once again named a top producer of Fulbright Scholarship winners.
The education that UGA students receive opens doors to academic disciplines, learning experiences, and career paths they might never have considered before. And as they explore these new opportunities, mentoring and support from UGA faculty and staff help them turn their dreams into reality. I am honored to lead the University of Georgia, where our stellar students continue to reach new heights of excellence and inspire everyone around them.
